When I arrive at work every morning, I have already exercised for 45 minutes, meditated for 15 minutes, had breakfast with my husband, and prepared my lunch. It hasn’t been easy for me to get into those habits. I have been working on my well-being for a long time. But why must this journey stop while I am at work where I spend the most time?
Phrases like “the customer is the most important”, “the customer is always right”, and “the customer is first” are phrases that most of us have heard at least once in our jobs. We have been through a pandemic, and we have seen how the world stopped, while we were at home inevitably facing our fears. Why is not everybody talking about wellness and self-care routines? Why is not every business focusing on wellness programs for their teamwork? From my point of view, teamwork is the biggest asset in any company. It allows you to have a strong and committed team to be successful for the company.
I had a small business for 8 years in my hometown, Venezuela, while I worked as the operations manager of a hotel, managing 20 individuals in different areas. Definitively, those years, from 2010 to 2019 formed me as a professional. No doubt It was a beautiful experience but if I plan to run a new business in the future (as I think I’ll do), I need to do things differently. I am willing to learn how to do things better. How can I manage my team better? How can I provide them with a revolutionary place to work, where they can feel comfortable, committed, happy, and pleasurable place to work at, where they feel that they grow as a professional and as a better person at the same time?
I know for sure that I am not the only person thinking about this. I began to feel concerned about the work environment can be different and that I wanted to learn how. I feel the need to understand this deeply. I feel that I need to get prepared to do things right, give value to others, and speak with confidence about a topic that I recently discovered that I am passionate about. I am looking forward to learning and developing the skills for changing the way we manage wellness and health at work. Wellness from an integrative point of view. Wellness not only at home but also in a job environment.
Do you feel that we talked enough about Well-being? How Do You Feel about this topic?
